Replacing the metal ring attached to the home button?

Hello,

I have been seeing a number of websites selling just the metal ring thats around the home button, such as this one:

http://www.sw-box.com/Stainless-steel-Me...

I'm looking to customize my iphone including the ring as well. I understand one cannot just replace the entire home button, so I'm looking to separate the two pieces and attach a new metal ring.

Does anyone have any approach or guide to separating the two pieces? any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much! have a nice day :)

One word: don't.

The sensor is laminated onto the sapphire button and the metal ring is spot welded onto the center plate. There is absolutely no way to separate them without breaking the chip.

That's the home button assembly. The area in red line is with sensor is important and weak. It's bent under the button contactor and glued on the button platform with strong adhesive. So it's not good and nearly impossible to separate them. Your fingerprint scanner will be damaged.
