Loud Speaker Not Working iPod Touch 4

Ok here's one. The speaker isn't working for sound. The head phone jack is playing sound. I replaced the speaker still nothing. I am really trying to figure this out. Anyone have a clue what could be going on with this thing.

Update

Yeah well it could be worse, this is a fixer upper everything but the external speaker works.. oh well

Ok i actually tried different headphone jack that didn't work. I see no signs of damage to the dock with broken pins and such. Any other ideas of what this could be. Obviously i've done a hard reset since i'm resorting to measures of these sorts. Not sure what else it could be any info out there with people that encountered similar issues in the past? Thanks for the info in advance.

I should mention I replaced the lcd and volume/power flex cable. When I hit the up down volume rockers it displays on the screen.

Sounds like it must be something on the logic board then. You've eliminated all of the other options at this point.

I Would check the dock connector and headphone jack for any dirt or damage. This may cause the iPod to think it is always connected to a dock or headphones which would disable the speaker

That's a good answer what exactly would I look for though? There is a tiny dent by the connector i'm thinking it could have jarred something. Thanks for the knowledgeable response not sure where to go from there.

try cleaning the headphone jack with a cotton bud. then try again. if it still doesn't work, then try putting headphone into headphone jack, pull it back out, put it back in... repeat for about 30 secs. It worked for me when I did both

Yeah still nothing. I've tried that I have no clue what else it could be since I also replaced the speaker. I even tried a different headphone jack I know that works.
