Back light won't wake up

A few weeks ago my cat knocked my tablet onto the floor. Immediately after, the bottom left of the screen was dark, almost like the corner wasn't lit up.

I pressed the power button, and turned the tablet back on, and the screen stayed black. The home and back buttons both lit up fine. I messed around with it for a while, I thought the screen was right buggered, but in a darkish room, I noticed that the screen was still on, and I could barely make out the screen, so I managed to power off the tablet. The back light did not power back on.

I watched a video on taking the device apart and noticed where the ribbons for the screen are located, I tried just pressing on that location to maybe "plug it back in". This worked intermittently. It would enable me to use the tablet normally for a while. After which the back pressure worked again for a while. However lately, the trick isn't working, and the tablet only works from a power cycle. Putting it to sleep only resorts in a black screen when I try and wake it up.

I'm curious what could be the problem here. A loose connection to the back light should be something that happens regardless of if the tablet is woken up from sleep or a power cycle. Is the screen just Booked? Could the ribbon be partially connected and not relaying the wakeup Signal? I'm at a loss.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I got some tools together, and looked around online for similar issues. There was a YouTube video where so eine had a similar issue. Someone in the comments mentioned a loose ribbon cable. So I took the tablet apart, and re-seated the ribbons. And the tablet works like new. Even the brightness control works properly (it didn't work at all before hand)

I have the identical problem.

Sorry for double post. I fixed it with the ribbon isse a month ago, but it came back. When I opened it, the ribbon cable was still seated as I left it, but this solution is too cumbersome. Every time I open it, I add some pry marks and some clips snap.

I had the same issue and re-seated the connections 3 or 4 times but it did solve the problem. Our was dropped and must have disturbed one of the ribbon cables - 5 can be done with the back removed - test loads before you replace he back!!

I had the exact issue, it started with a darker area in the screen and no wake up for the screen. I opened the back and re-seated the screen connector (ribbon) and it solved the issue.

I followed these guides to open the back and re-seat the connector.
