My iPod will not turn on , why?

My iPod will not turn on , it doesn't matter if I plug it in to my I Mac or not I still get no response . I have not used the device for 9 months but it worked when I stopped using it . The iPod itself is in excellent condition by all appearances.

Have you looked in the dock? Check to make sure that the port is still intact and fine. If it is damaged, you will have to replace the main board.

The dock is in like new condition , the port is intact and complete .

Trying plugging it in to a wall charger (the OEM charger, 2A output) and try a reset on the device (holding the power and home button down for ~7 seconds).

Tom Lloyd, it is possible that your battery has been discharged below the threshold for it to be recharged. Sometimes a AC adapter can wake it up and charge it since it applies higher amperage than the computers USB port. If that does not work, I'd start off with a new battery and then re-evaluate.
