Replacing the LCD panel on a Dell laptop is not easy. There's a whole bunch of screws that have to be removed in order to replace the LCD. Be sure you shop around, because LCD panels for laptops can be expensive, and in some cases, can cost almost as much as the computer itself. I learned that the hard way when I spent $600 for a new LCD panel for my Inspiron 8600! (the system died soon after replacement). So depending on the age of your laptop, I wouldn't bother replacing the panel. Just purchase a new laptop, which would be much cheaper and you'll probably get more powerful hardware (don't spend less than $1,500, though). So my recommendation is to shop online for your LCD panel, or purchase a new laptop. I have a Vostro 1400, and already there's a yellow line going down the screen. I'm not going to get a new panel, since the laptop is over 3 years old. Good luck!!

You cannot fix cracked screen, it has to be replaced.
Probably can find cheap on eBay.

I ended up buying a screen locally and installing it. It wasn't the right one and it didn't work. I had to take it to a shop where I have had terrific support here in Houston called Computers and More. 10717 Gulf Freeway Houston Tx 77034. 713 941 5999. They changed the screen repalced the ballast for the backlight becasue it was humming and gave me back the incorrect screen. I was able to return the screen for a complete refund. Thanks for the suggestions. Bill
