Mac is too slow? Can't figure why. Help!

Hi I am using 13 inch macbook pro 2011 with 4GB RAM size. OS X is 10.7.2. In the recent days, this mac has become painfully slow. The boot time has increased & I often get the beach ball.

I tried disk utility repair disk permissions but hasn't helped much. Does my Mac needs more ram?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi there, you should have mentioned what hard drive space is left free for OS X usage. May be the free space is gone. Another possibility could be the start-up partition is about to get filled with data, thus increasing boot time. You need to disk space occupied by data using path Apple Logo<<About This Mac<<More Info<<Storage. Also, check if some recently installed app is not creating troubles for you. If you have a budget and work that counts on speed & best performance then do get additional 4Gb ram. Your Mac can be upgraded to 8GB. Computer loves RAM and no doubt it will be much faster than the current machine. Or you could try a Mac cleaner http://osx.iusethis.com/app/stellarspeed...

The Hard Drive/ IR cable is notorious for failing on this machine and can destroy your hard drive. It's a cheap fix. Apple now puts a pad over the cable right where it goes over the top edge of the case to help prevent it getting damaged.
