Unresponsive touch screen along left and right edges?

I got this ipad from a pawn shop only to find that the left and right edges are unresponsive from "S" to the far left side of the screen and "K" to the far right side of the screen. Anyone know why this might be or what, if anything, i can do to fix it? The pawn shop has no heat and it has been REALLY cold up here, could that have hurt it?

I would return to the pawnshop and ask if they refund but because you bought it and left the store I'm not sure that they will..

You digitizer is faulty
