iPad will not charge.

Hi there, my iPad had a small fall a little while ago which cracked the glass a little! All was working fine after that! I have not used the iPad in a few months and now it won't charge. It is showing the charge sign, the battery with a little bit of red in it with a loghtning bolt underneath but it is not turning on after 30 mins of charging! I have tried to reset it with lock and home button screen goes black then goes back to charging sign! Any help please

Answer this question I have this problem too

Ben, sounds like your battery is no longer holding a charge, or is discharged beyond the threshold to be recharged. I suggest to replace the battery and then re-evaluate. Since you did not further elaborate on what model your iPad is, use these guides to assist you with that. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you very much for this reply! As I have to change the screen I will change the battery at the same time! So just to clarify, are you saying a device that is left for a long period of time will drain the battery too much to be recharged?

Thanks

Ben

Ben, that is correct. There is a certain threshold that, once it is reached, the battery will no longer accept a charge. It is basically discharged to low for it to be recharged. Smart devices use smart batteries:-) Best of luck with your iPad.

far easier to change the dock connector than the battery on the first gen iPad--and this may solve your problem.
