iPhone wont charge when its on, but it will when its off?

History

I replaced the lcd in my phone. everything worked fine. when i put it back together the ear piece stopped working.

So i tried the headphone trick. nothing.

Tried cleaning it. nothing.

Now, randomly, my phone wont charge unless its off. and will not connect to itunes.

i have cleaned all the connections.

What is going on??

What iPhone generation do you have ?

i would guess that one or more connections inside the iPhone aren't connected properly. but since the iPhone generations are different it would make no sense to explain everything twice.

but i think that it's a connection problem - check them all again, they can be really tricky and sometimes the don't snap in

its a 3g. ive tried cleaning them. then tried connection grease. then cleaned it again. i have no clue what the deal is.

very strange. i never had this one tried - but connect it to the computer and then restart the computer with the connected - powered on - iPhone, in some cases - it worked.
