Battery doesnt charge after extended "dead" time

So while testing a new battery I thought i would let it go at least 24hr with out being charged. When I tried to charge it again it would not. I had let it go down to 0 many times and charged it with in a few hours with no problems. I really dont think that it is the batter, does anyone have any ideas?

Options

Plug the iPhone into a power outlet, the hold down the on/off and the home buttons for 30 sec.
