iPhone 3GS wont turn on and wont charge

i was on my 3gs and battery was low so i put it on charge and it said it was charging now ive gone to go on it after about 10 mins the screen is black and wont charge then when i connect it to my laptop it says the device is unrecognized how do i fix this? also when holding the home button the connect charger doesnt come up.

Options

It could be a number of things:

  • Faulty cable
  • Dead battery
  • Bad battery connection to the logic board
  • Bad dock connector
  • Logic board damage

Since your laptop says the device in unrecognized start by trying another cable and then seek professional help if it doesn't work.
