Why does my iMac spit out the apple install software disc?

iMac Intel core 2 Duo EMC 2308 or A1311

I am trying to reinstall the running apple software from the original discs. After inserting them, the disc runs for a few minutes, the disc icon does not show up on the desktop and it spits out after awhile. I have also tried burning discs and after awhile it also spits them out, unusable, Any ideas??

Thank you Mr. Mayer, How do I go about doing the clean up?? I haven't burned many discs on this drive. Can I clean it without opening the computer?? Thanks!

Options

You either have a dirty drive or a faulty drive. You can try cleaning it or replace it.

Update (01/30/2014)

Try blowing it out with canned air. Next you may need to remove jot and/or replace it, here's how: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2308 Optical Drive Replacement
