Replace white screen with black?

Hello!

I am repairing an iPod touch 5th gen that is blue on the back housing and has a white glass on the LCD. I've noticed black is only on the slate model. Are the two colors different at all or can I replace the white with black as per request.

I will be switching out the glass/lcd assembly.
