Why is there white spotting going through lcd?

Hello,

I just replaced the front lcd assembly (lcd, digitizer, backlight and frame) and was VERY careful throughout. When pressing the home button and around the home button on the white part of the glass, and pressing towards the upper part of the screen, white spots shine through. They go away when removing finger from screen or holding finger in that position, they will also fade away.

It is for a friend so it is driving me insane!

Hope you can help.

Update: when having the back cover removed, the problem is almost next to gone unless I pressed abnormally hard. Back cover must not be a perfect fit and is pressing the backlight against the lcd?

Hello zentech this is caused by the battery been slightly bent and formed a tad out of shape cause when you put the back cover on it puts stress on the lcd underneath

I would take out the battery and also the adesive that held the battery on the frame could be sticking up... Try this and it will 100% work

Take off the adesive on the mid frame that held battery and also the whole plastic pull tab cause you don't need it and straight out battery and make sure nothing is stuck to it..

Do this and problem solved :)

Great advice as well! Thank you. In the process of putting the phone back together atm. That's funny because the battery did bend a bit on removal, oops! Apple sure makes a tight fitting phone with even a slight component out of place and you get screen issues. Will update with results!

Made a HUGE difference, almost perfect! There's a BIT of space between the the back cover and the iphone framing, almost looks like a half mm bend. I know I had to press the speaker in a bit. Going to tinker around there.

I have removed the speaker and there are NO issues. It was not sitting right somehow. Cleaning up the battery fixed some of the spots to begin with as well. Thank you!

Glad this helped it's just the battery putting pressure on the lcd

Sounds like a cheap bad screen,, hopefully you can exchange it for a good 1.

The screen is not seated correctly, you may have left on the plastic protector on the back of the screen, also check to make sure you have all the screen screws installed and tight. If you are still having problems you should check the frame it could be bent.

Resolved a small issue with the home button, cut some of the new adhesive I put down around the home button rubber and it now clicks like new! So far no screen issue! (system is barebones atm, battery, board, and lcd)
