PS3 Slim Overheating after cleaning and thermal paste replaced

Hi,

I have been playing FFXIV ARR and the screen kept freezing. So I did some research and some people say maybe is because the PS3 is too hot. So I look up youtube how to open my PS3 and clean out all the dust and the fan. After that I put it back together and my ps3 started saying overheated and shutdown by itself. So I did more research and thought that it could be the thermal paste is too old. So I researched how to replaced the thermal paste and I reopen my PS3 and change the thermal paste. Didn't know how much to put I put quite a lot and reassembled it and used it again. Got overheat again and asked a few friends and they said maybe i put too much so I open it and cleaned it out and put less. I'm using Artic5. now the PS3 still get overheat. I do not know what to do.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Thermal past is only half the battle, having a good amount is the key goal, but also having good air flow, and a good fan is what keeps it cool. Check to make sure that you have it cleaned out for the intake areas then make sure to do the super blow out method as shown on other youtube videos where you hold the eject button down with everything unplugged but the power, then plug the power in and after a few seconds let the button go. you should hear a high powered blast of fan, if not then you might have a bad fan or even worse connections to the fan could be bad.

Here is a simple video before going extreme, maybe this will help too. https://thewikihow.com/video_LiEZgzktsLo
