Why aren't my microphone and webcam working?

My webcam and microphone are both not working right now.

Hi, We could use a little more information to be able to help you. What model computer do you have and what operating system are you using? Are the web cam and microphone not working at all or are they just not working properly? When we have more information we will be happy to help you. Ralph

Go to system preferences and select sound. Click on the input selection. Then click on the built-in mic. so all input comes from there. If tha t doesn't work I doen't know what to do.
