Backlight Issue - Not Inverter, Not cable, Not LCD

Hi all - Thanks for any help. Anyways, I replaced the LCD on my black MacBook & when I tested it, it worked great. So I put it together & the backlight would not work.

I had two extra inverters here so I replaced it but that didn't work either. I replaced the inverter cable - Didn't work. So, I tested the black MacBook LCD on a white MacBook - The LCD, inverter, cable were all good because the black MB LCD worked with the white one (but the working white MB LCD did not work when installed on the black MB base.

I would assume its a logic board issue? I've tried resetting the PRAM, and can't seem to reset the SMC. Thanks!

Do you mean the white LCD display has video but no lightning when installed on the black MacBook (same for the black display) ? Maybe you damaged the logic board inverter circuitry on the black MacBook when doing your tests. There's a microfuse on the logic board that could be blown now so the inverter socket doesn't receive any power to feed the inverter board. The only way to be sure is to test the voltage inside the logic board inverter socket (or at the end of the inverter cable that connects to the inverter board). If the voltage is there then your problem is elsewhere if not then the logic board is faulty. A tech could make this verification.

The tubes for the backlight are quite delicate, are you sure that it isn't damaged?
