Can you put a iPhone 5s home button on an iPhone 5?

I was wondering if you can put the iphone 5s home button on the iphone 5 or ipad mini?

If you are trying to gain the fingerprint security services from the new iPhone 5s the answer is no you need more than just replacing the button for either the iPhone or iPad mini.

That doesn't really answer my question.
The home button flex cable on the iPhone 5 uses a 2-point contact switch, iPhone 5S use a complex button/sensor assembly with a connector, so the answer is no.
it does work but you have to connect it to the stems watch the video on youtube.

The back of two home button is different. See below. So I don't think it will work if you put the wrong home button.
I find a custom iPhone 5 home button at witrigs.com. It makes the iphone 5 looks like the iphone 5s.

I wouldn't waste my money on these buttons as they are metal unlike the real iPhone 5 button which is plastic. Your sweat/wetness will corrode it where as the plastic one won't.
it's the cool factor, not the longevity that's the issue here:)
Dan, in a chemistry standpoint, the metal on the 5s home button wouldn't start corroding until like 50 years of use.

Anyway, iPhone 5S button will ONLY work with their original mother board.
There is some "encryptage" for home button that you can only use with the original iPhone 5S.
You can't fit your iPhone 5S button to a 5 for two reason.
In the iPhone 5, there is no fingerprint connector.
And iPhone 5S button can't be changed for any other button, because fingerprint feature will not work only because the iPhone 5S home button is configured to work with only their own motherboard.

The 6s button is actually connected to the sub to make it work as to the iphone 5 the home button cable does not connect but simply make contact to the usb pins. So the answer os no they can not be interchanged

Other than the fact the Buttons are completely different, last time i cracked an 5s open, the button was actually assembled to the screen, instead of the 5 which is on the actuall frame housing. Not going to work out for you at all.

The iphone 5 home button is actually installed on the LCD. Every model including the 6and 6+ the home button is on the LCD
No you can I'll explain because people never held and pictures don't do any justice I took my friends cracked(yes cracked already) 5s and compared it with my 5
The button on the 5s is not curved in like all rest of the iPhones. The 5 is indented in flat with a more centered circular outline.

What you're trying to say is the button has slight cupping in the middle (not a flat surface)

There is so much confusion on this topic so i will clarify it for everybody. The iPhone 5S home button can be installed on an iPhone 5 or 5C just for looks because they are the same shape and use the same technology for the button push. On the other hand, while the 5S home button is installed there is no connector to plug the Fingerprint scanner into. So therefore, if you wanted to install one on an iPhone 5 or 5C, you could but it would just act the same as the original one but it would look better. I have an iPhone 5s home button in my 5c and it works perfectly, (other than the touch ID). If there are any questions, just reply to this post.

Yes you can, just did it from an iphone 5s to an iphone 5. I took the 5s button and cut the electronics off of the back, and put the connector from the 5 button onto the back of the 5s one. works perfectly
