tried removing the fan but broke the connection

Hi,

I was trying to remove the fan and broke off the connection to the logic board? is it now my only choice to replace the entire logic board? I tried soldering the piece back and it seems ridiculously tiny with four connections.

A professional electronics repair shop might be able to bail you out. If you haven't damaged the board. Soldering computer components to logic boards requires special tools, solder & lots and lots of experience.

If the board is damaged the yes you'll have to replace it. Pay close attention to how connectors disconnect as you work on the old board (Study the guide, not just read it). Many DIYers tear the ends off cables & connectors pulling the wrong direction, or not first unlocking cams.
