Cleaning Vents to the fan?

I think the vents are a bit blocked up. I have read that some people having the same problem but I wondered which was the simplest way of cleaning the vents to the fan? Do I have to take it apart our would it be okay to try and clean it out with my vacuum-cleaner!? Is there something I could damage?

Thanks

David

I would not use a vacuum cleaner. You can damage a lot inside a notebook, since the parts are very delicate.

Take the topcase off and than remove the fan. Clean everything with compressed air. Be especially careful with the logicboard because its very sensitive in regard of static electricity. Before touching any of the innards ground yourself by touching a radiator or so or use an ESD mat and wriststrip.

Why remove the fan? It blows out easily. If you don't happen to have a radiator, touch the center screw of a grounded electrical outlet plate.

Because a lot of dust can accumulate on the blowout side of the fan. That gathers in the fins of the heatsink and is easier to remove with the fan off.
