1 Shut down, will not turn back on
My Acer I conga Tab A500 just shut off one day and won't turn back on. The power button lights up when it's on but otherwise nothing.

This is a common problem with this unit. I just got mine fixed this week. From my internet research I found that the problem is a design flaw with the on off switch. The button you push is not a switch, it pushes a lever shaped like a tiny golf club. The "club Face" contacts the actual switch. Apparently it is possible to push too hard and dislodge the contact. The repair involved removing the back, taking out the mother board to access the switch, positioning the contact properly and reinforcing it so this won't happen again. It was more than I wanted to try so I managed to find someone to do it for me, he charged $49.00 and it now works perfectly.

Since I had mine fixed (see earlier post) I was told that someone on ebay is offering to fix this common problem for $50.00. You have to send your unit to them.
I contacted Acer and found that they will fix it for free under if it is still under warranty but charge more that the thing is worth ($250 I think) if the warranty has expired.
Wow its nt d buyers fault that the product is nt as good as its supposed to . If the problem is all d same they should atleast fix it cheaper cuz nt everyone really can afford i t t like me
Mine was a year old in January !! Not happy to pay out to get it fixed as it seems to be a common problem, won't be buying another one!!
mine Just crapped out as well. Thank you for posting the Fix. will fix it but i also will never buy another Acer product. Its a design flaw and should have been recalled and fixed. So they just lost a customer for all there products.
I would not buy an acer again in my life paid over 500 hundred for it and it been trouble from day one thus week went to put it in to charger now it will not go back on but the blue power button stays on .Tryed everything not I have to shop for a new tablet for my husband and it will not be an acre it will be an apple ,as I bought myself one and they are great never a promblen love apple air .

Try doing a hard reset. Be aware that this will take it to the state it was in when you first bought it and will erase your personal data.

I don't know how to do a Hard reset on my tablet though.
tested and tried everything stated, still wont switch on.

Got the same problem what I dit was disconect all cables except the battery cable then the tablet turned on vibrating, so by exclusion I find the board with the problem it was the board where the USB/Mini USB / Reset Button was, when I disconnected those it worked like a charm so to fix it I removed the board sprayed with WD40 pressed the reset button a few times(I believe the problem was the reset button got stuck or with a short circuit) put the board back on and its working like new, hope this help someone. :)

How did you know to take the usb/mini usb off. Mine is doing the same thing except it does not vibrate. Please help! !
You have to open the tablet(remove the back cover),then disconect the USB/MINI USB/Reset board and try to turn the tablet on again, worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you.Mine wasn't vibrating either so it's a try. If you don't want to open the table just try to spray some WD40 on the reset role press a few times and see if that works. WD40 does not affect circuit boards so you can spray without fear but be careful with the screen that can be affected. sorry for any mistakes on the writing, not my native language.

Britt, he disconnected all cables except the battery cable. It was a process of exclusion, or U might say, a process of elimination; he disconnected the USB/Mini USB/Reset button board & it worked. Also see Zanutto's suggestion: just spray some WD40 on the reset role & press it a few times. U might avoid opening the tablet & partial disassembly.
My son acer won't turn on, we charge it over night but still won't turn on we send it away to fix it when still under warrant and they fix it so it work for only few weeks and done again and again so now it not working.

- Plug The Charger And Full Charge It .

I was charging my Acer tablet last night and when I tried to turn it on tonight, nothing happens. I get no power light and when I tried holding down volume button and power button, it didn't vibrate. It doesn't look like it's taking a charge either. Just dead. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thx!
The Acer iconic has a flaw,it was created without enough memory,so if it comes on but does nothing else or not come on at all its due to lack of memory open and add memory or do as I did contact acer..hope this helps I went thru a lot to figure out this acer problem,,

Could you give us a bit more information about this. Did you happen to drop it or bump it into something? Did you happen to leave it in direct sun light for too long, etc. ?

so my RCA tablet isn't working because i dropped it on the power button and now the power button is stuck and every time i charge it and i try to power it on it stays on the loading page forever until it dies.I really need help. thank you...

i have the same problem also, my acer A500 wont come on when you press the power button, the button jus lights up and stop and nothing happen, i try putting it to charge and its charging, but nothing wont show up on the screen, jus the button lights up and stop. please help!!!
