Drawer will sometimes not open

History

Standard CD ROM (Compact Disc). Drawer will sometimes not open except by using the pinhole. I have had it apart and inspected the mechanical components but can see nothing obviously at fault. I am a mechanic and so am quite familiar with machinery in general. Is it repairable? What should I try?

Reply to Markus Weiher. Thanks for the reply. Not what I had in mind as this drive is for a lady friend's machine. Also, I'd be very careful about mods,too. Once had a disk explode in a drive and the force is tremendous. You want to make sure the disk is fully enclosed in a strong case while running. SAFETY FIRST and ALWAYS.

I did not mean that you have to rip everything apart - it was only to show you the switches that are responsible for the problem you have. i had the "exploding disc" thing many years ago and a (at that time) 250$ burner was dead after that
