wide lines showing on screen after assembling

Hi, I' ve just changed the digitizer glass on my ipad 2 gsm, everything went ok until I assembled it again... Only wide color lines showing on screen. Vertical and some horizontals as well. Is it a problem with the lcd, cable or the motherboard?

Thanks for helping

Sandor,

It definitely sounds like the LCD to me. Wide lines could be the LCD cable, but more than likely it is the LCD itself that has gone bad.

I recommend that you:

  1. Disassemble your iPad 2
  2. Unplug the LCD cable (with the iPad powered down)
  3. Plug the LCD cable back into the connector

Then turn back on the iPad and see what the LCD looks like. If it still doesn't work, it could still be the cable, but more than likely it is the LCD that is broken.

Another Option:

If you can take the time to order the cable first, then you can send that part back if it turns out to be the LCD that is damaged. I'm not sure what iFixit's return policy is, but I'm sure if you say that you want the more expensive LCD in return – they should gladly accept your return.
