MacBook won't wake up from Hibernation

History

I have a MacBook that won't wake up from hibernation mode.

i wanted to drain the battery and let the MacBook go all the way down.

(i needed some voltage informations from the "empty" battery)

removed the battery, made my "stuff" and tried to start the MacBook again - but nothing - it stays dead, i charged the battery in another MacBook, put it in the dead one and nothing.

tried to start it with the powercord & the battery, only with the powercord - but still nothing.

tried it without the topcase (to rule a topcase problem out)

it does not react in any way.

changed the dc-in board - nothing.

one thing i noticed - the magsafe connector does not show anything when plugged to the MacBook (tried several ones) - BUT, when i plug in the magsafe and press the power button, the magsafe connector starts to flash orange (very faint)

any suggestions what in could try ?

Is it hibernating or completely off?

remacberlin,

now - completely off

As good a tech as you are, I'd start tracking it down with a voltmeter, starting at the mag port.

Agreed + Ralph

rj713,

thanks for the tip, i'll try that later (it's 5am - so later will be better)

markus weiher,

Try holding down the option key why you turn the power on. It should come up with which HD you want to boot from, may get you passed the hibernation mode.

nope - didn't change anything, still dead

You may just wanna get a new logicboard cause it be easier and by looking at the logicboard theres no other way but IF you wanna try harder stuff go ahead

Why should there be no other way ??? at least i'll try it tomorrow - i've worked with smd parts for years - if it works - ok, if not - who cares - it's not mine ;-)

markus weiher,

The man wants a challenge--- I remember starting out we all did component level repair. No one would think of replacing a board--you found the faulty component and replaced it. Progress I guess. Ralph
