iPhone 4S Display Assembly not working with iOS smaller then iOS 6

Hi,

the last 2 weeks, we have the problem, that our replacement display assemblys for iPhone 4s are not working if the ios is smaller the 6.0.

The display stays black, Touch and Backlight are working. Do you know the problem. How to solve it?

I am having the same issues...It seems that the new screens prevent the phone from booting up. But if the phone is booted with the old screen, and then if you hotswap the screen while the phone is asleep, the new display will work.

This prevents you from shutting the phone off

I had 3 different screens from 3 different manufactures and 2 iPhone 4s', both exhibited the same issue.

I agree with Taylor. The solution to this is to swap the screen with the phone on but screen off. I've had it happen with a few iPhones and iPads..there is nothing wrong with the screens or the boards.

But is there any other permanent solution?

I think I would be contacting your vendor about that. It's not really a repair issue as much as it is compatible part. We see this often with computer HD's new ones claim to be backward compatible but then are shown not to be.

but when you update the iphone the screen still won't work..the screen will work in another phone. Why would the screen work on one phone with iOS 6+ and not another on the same iOS? Remember that another screen will work... This problem is a little like the battery issue for iPhone 3GS and it would cause boot loop etc if you didn't install the correct serial numbered battery. It'd be nice to know what the issue is here so we can order the right screen for the right phone x

Another 4S running IOS6+? Could there be hardware damage other than the screen you overlooked?

by

No. Another screen and the old cracked screen worked. It's very odd.. Not motherboard damage.

Any solutions for this problem. I'm starting to see a lot of phones with this problem even with ios6 and later. If I run an old screen it works. None of my new screens will light up but they work fine on other phones.

Only solution so far is to replace screen with phone on instead of off as we normally advise...similar problem with ipad4 screen replacements :-(
