Battery issues with iPod Classic

I have a fairly old ipod classic which is working OK but is very slow to charge both at power plug and also in computer. It then does not seem to hold its charge very well at all so I am constantly having to charge it,

As it is so old is it worth me taking into an apple shop or is there any way I can get a new battery and fit it, I am in the UK

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Mary Kersey, by your serial number, the iPod comes back as a nano 3rd generation. I am not sure what Apple would charge you, but as long as it works for you, why not replace the battery. Here is the guide for it, and even so it is not the easiest of all jobs, it is doable. pollytintop on here can probably help you more about the availability in the UK. Hope this helps, good luck.
