external speakers volume isnt up that loud

Ive had my HTC One for about 2 months I hardly ever use the external speakers and when I do the volume isnt up that loud. I called HTC and they told me to do a factory reset, has anyone done this? I highly doubt a factory reset will help the issue at all. I only started to notice this issue after I had an update.

i own htc one n had same problem.... bt sadly it wasnt hardware problem nor software problem,.. since htc one have front speaker and have small holes, they tend to be blocked with dusts, what i did was just clean it with toothbrush(as it is easy and is right in your home) . it will be as good as new....

Truly work out...great loudspeaker never before..loud enough..as compared to before cleaning with toothbrush.

by

really worked well for me. just used an tooth brush and got minute dust particles removed. my htc one is rocking again with beats audio. wonderful solution. never thought of this solution. thanks a ton

The easiest answer is the one that worked. I use the external speaker regularly and also noticed the volume did not change from 50% to 100%. I went to the Verizon store to compare my M8 to the newer M9 and noticed how horrible mine was. I searched and found this website. I used a new travel toothbrush to clean off the speakers and it worked wonders. thanks for the advice!

Yeah, according to some internet search, the factory reset does not seem to have helped anybody. But it still may help you, who knows. If you give it for repair, they will factory reset it anyways.

You can also try safe mode. It is very similar to a factory reset. No downloaded app runs. But it is temporary. After a reboot, you are all fine.

Make sure "Fast boot" is not enabled,

Shut down your phone,

Open it,

When you see the HTC logo, press and hold volume down button.

It will open in safe mode. Not a factory reset but if an app causes this problem it will reveal it. The only difference is, the settings are saved and the only settings which are relevant would be volume itself and beats audio, so it shall not differ between a factory reset and safe mode.

By the way, HTC One's speakers are loud, but not extremely as thought.

For example, Note II and Nokia 920 probably have louder speakers. But HTC One's speakers are much more clear, and basses are so vibrant.

So its speakers are not the loudest, but the highest quality.

Low volume might be due to the file you are playing. For example, flac files are usually very silent with respect to mp3's.

But still if you think your speakers are really silent, maybe due to the update or so, you may try safe mode, then a factory reset, or even get it repaired.

MexiMike, if your problem disappears in safe mode, then an app you have installed might be causing such a problem.

You may try to uninstall or force quit apps one by one (or in groups for your convenience, such as forcing to quit some set of apps, if problem disappears, opening these apps one by one and trying to find which one causes the problem again, or if the problem persists, trying to force quit another group of apps, etc.), and find which app is causing this problem.

After a factory reset, if you install the same apps again, or HTC backup does so, you may encounter the same problem again too.

You should better find the faulty app(s).

if you want more volume and not quality simply disable beats.

you can type

*#*#3424#*#*

as though to make a phone call and it brings up a menu for a number of tests you can make on your phone systems, including a sound check. You should be able to figure out the steps needed to accomplish the sound check to find out how each channel is preforming.

Good luck

Bro I was also having this problem and I read on google to clean the speakers grill with a toothbrush but it didn't worked. Several times I cleaned the speakers grill with a toothbrush but of no use. Then I took a needle and cleaned each hole of the speakers grill and it worked great. Now my speaker volume is loud. Also before cleaning the upper speaker was producing a crackling sound but now its clear. Thanks
