cracked screen samsung galaxy s2x or (hercules) sgh-t989d

my touch screen looks and works just fine but is cracked..can i replace just outter screen or is digitizer lcd screen all one piece? i'm getting mixed information and of course would rather spend $12 on parts as opposed to $179-$239.
