Installed HD in iMac - "Select a destination" HD missing?

Hey ifixit

Bought your 2 TB HD for my iMac (EMC 2133) because original HD had crashed. Followed your guide for replacing HD without problems.

Now starting the iMac from disk I come to the "Select a Destination" window but no HD shows up in the list. So I'm stuch here.

Tried the disk utility and the HD does show, but I can't verify or repair it. Seems that nothing can be done with it. No participation showed.

Also tried a trick I read in another threat on apple.com to go into Terminal and type "df -k" a couple of times. No luck.

What do I do?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sounds like the drive hasn't been partitioned correctly.

Ensure that the following are correct,

In disk utility Click the Volume not the drive

Click the "Parition" tab

Partition Layout = "1 partition"

Click Options…

Click GUID Partition Table

Click OK

Name the partition "Macintosh HD" or anything you want

Format should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Click OK

The HDD will now partition and will be available in the "Select a Destination" window.

Let me know how it goes, as always if you need any more help just ask.

Cheers
