MacBook powers off if not powered via AC?

MacBook will only stay on if plugged into wall outlet. When running solely on battery, it will randomly power down. If it is able to be rebooted, it resets clock to Jan 1, 2000 and time to 12:00. It also doesn't recognize the wireless network it automatically connects to. Can this be solved by installing new battery? Based on other forums, it could be the logic board? Is the expense worth fixing or buying new computer. MacBook is from 2009.

Answer this question I have this problem too

hi Aaron

Seems to be a battery issue.

You can check the battery health by

Clicking on the Apple logo on upper left --> click about this mac --> click more info. In the left column--> under hardware --> click power, this should give power/battery info.

if it says “Replace Soon,” “Replace Now,” then you need a new battery.

Also you can read more about it on this below link :-
