songs are skipping on iPod

I have done all of these suggestions here and went to the 'apple' forums site and they suggested just ensuring iTunes was all in ACC version which I also did, but still the Ipod skips all of the time now. I have noticed the battery is fading but usually works fine on a ipod player/port but not with earplugs on it's own of course, so could t be as simple as the battery causing this dysfunction?

Try wiping it out and putting your music back onto it. Is it just skipping on the iPod or is it doing it on your computer also?
