Pulled iMac apart cleaned fans put back together powers up

I pulled apart my iMac had CD stuck in it fans were re ally dirty so I pulled the rest apart and cleaned fans when put back together powers up fine fans act like normal I have nothing on the display I also have to use a external monitor as my screen is broken what should I do

Please don't panic. The chances are you have just missed a connection. I would do exactly the same as you did before but make sure all the connections have been made to the motherboard. I haven't had a lot of experience going inside iMacs but usually it is very clear and there will be a LCD cable, chances are this is just loose.

Hopefully you haven't broken the display connector, the 30-pin connection to the logic board. I did exactly that, and it means replacing the connector. That involves sourcing the connector part, then taking most of the iMac apart, and a soldering job on the logic board. It's a pain in the bum, but it is do-able.

Alternatively, as suggested, perhaps the display connector is just loose. Be very careful with it, Apple didn't make it tough.
