Possible User Available Upgrades
Although this is not a repair question for now, it will be soon. Did you see anything that we might be able to upgrade ourselves with the iPad. Can I upgrade the 16GB to a 64 GB myself? Do you think the 3G module might be user installable? I buy only the minimum hard drives and RAM from Apple on new machines because they are so overpriced, I thought this might be the case with the iPad.

I think the only chance would be a unused usb port - or even the usb pins in the logic board - that way someone with good soldering skills could put in a 3g usb device - but then it has to be something that could be portet to the ipad - if apple did it as almost always - it should be not to hard to find someone who can provide some working kexts for that (but to be honest - i'm still waiting that someone could port the graphics "driver" from the iPhone 3GS for my vaio p (the use the same graphics chipset - and i would love to have fully accelerated graphics on the vaio p)
I would think Apple would add the 3G as a replaceable part rather than soldering it in. Your opinion? +
sure - apple would do something like that - but not everybode get his hands on apple parts and if i want somethin inside a device - i would solder it on a usb port - like today mini bluetooth dongles on devices with only one or two usb ports - the best place is inside ;-)
if there would be enough space - the small 3g usb sticks are good and since there are not soooo many manufacturers on the market - the thing works mostly out of the box (like my 3g/bluetooth/gp
Links to some of your references would help explain your answers a lot better. Your sources for parts in Germany may be very different than those in the USA ;-)
