sim tray won't go all the way in after reassembling

I had a broken back cover and on/off button on my iphone 3gs.

Bought new parts and reassembled everything as per your step by step guide.

Everything works fine but the sim card holder/tray cannot go all the way in thus I cannot use my phone anymore.

Any tips?

I tried pushing the logic panel further down in order to leave more space for the tray but still it won't go in.

Please help anyone!

Thanks,

Joanne

Hi Joanne,

When the sim card holder doesn't go all the way in, there seems to be an obstacle in the lower area of the sim card holder.

You might push the sim card holder slowly into the slot with the digitzer/LCD-unit open (removed), so that you might be able to see where the issue is.

Use this guide (iPhone 3G Logic Board Replacement) and take a look at step 7. I see a metal spring at the bottom of the sim card holder. Might this be the issue?
