Swapped out HD for SSD, HD temperature sensor not showing anymore

So basically, I've checked on istat pro for my temperature sensors, but I can only find a few. This is of course not including the HD temp sensor.

I have already checked in the settings that it is not hidden.

Is there a cord or way through SMART to get a reading of the SSD's temperature? The SSD I've put in is a Samsung 840 Pro

Thank you!

Chosen Solution

SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a feature on a computer's hard disk for providing various monitoring indicators of disk reliability or drive status, not temperature. AFAIK temperature is not an issue with SSDs, so the HD temp sensor should not cause a problem unless your fans are running at 100% because the sensor is missing or damaged.

Ok, but do you know why the sensor is now missing since I replaced the original HD with the SSD? Would it have been attached to the HD somewhere?

Thanks

Sorry, I am aware that SSD temperatures are not an issue, but I just want to know why the sensor has stopped and how it might be possible to get it back?

Yes there's an internal sensor run through a proprietary connector.
