I usually don't recommend repairing microwaves as they are dangerous. Please unplug the machine and don't touch any capacitors.

Richard,

Most General Electric microwave ovens have the fans mounted in the rear, center, top of the chassis and can be mounted in a couple different configurations depending upon whether the microwave is set up for rear exhaust, top exhaust, or exhausting to the room. I would be able to get you a definitive answer if I knew the model number of your microwave, but you will most definitely have to take the microwave off of its mount to replace the fan. After the microwave has been dismounted, there are generally only one or two screws and an electrical connection (Molex type) before you are able to remove the fan. I hope this helps and good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Rear fan was dirty so I unscrewed to clean. How can I mount fan to way it was. Also, parts of motor are rusty. Can it still work or should I buy that part. Fan blades have been cleaned.
