Are the iPad 4 and iPad 3 LCD panels interchangeable?

History

Can anyone tell me if an LCD panel for an iPad 3 will work in an iPad 4th Gen?

I know the manufacturer changed but it appears to be identical from what I can see on the teardown here, and I know the digitisers are the same part.

None of my usual parts suppliers are stocking iPad 4 LCD panels as yet.

I've got one coming in on Friday so at worst I'll order an iPad 3 LCD and try I guess!

Would you give us the model numbers of the two machines you are talking about? It looks like Axxx

Well I bit the bullet and can confirm that the iPad 3 LCD panel works in an iPad 4th Gen. No issues at all.
