Hey man, thanks! I am waiting forthe flex cable to arrive, i also get a new button, but maybe there is no need of changing that? Thanks for the data! Greetings from Argentina!

No dude, if the button click, you don´t have to change that, in my case i just change the flex cable and it´s working so great i´m not thinking in selling out anymore haha. greetings and good luck with your repair :)

Alex one last question, is it difficult to change the cables? i saw that the audio cable is glued to the case, and you have to change the contacts of the volume, mute and power to the new cable. How difficult is that? thanks!

by

Hi Luis, it's glued but with a kind of sticker, like a tape, in my case, the new flex came with those tape too, and the only thing "difficult" is reinsert the sound/vibrate switch, because it also have another bracket, but you have to be patience, it's a kind of difficult, because you have to practically remove all components and then reinsert all of them, but with patience you'll be ok

I don't own an iPhone 5, but it sounds like the bracket that holds the "clicking" part of the button in place has broken or been moved. Look at this guide, step 28 should be the part you need to look at replacing.

i would be looking for that, thanks!

I open the phone and the bracket is fine....

One thing that calls my attention was this:

iPhone 5 Power and Lock Button

look at the item they sell here, in the description it says that if your power button has issues it may be the Front Camera and Sensor Cable that's bad.

I dont know how that could be the problem... any ideas anyone? thanks!

If the bracket is fine, but the button still feels weird and doesn't work well then it could be the cable that goes to it. It looks like it's that cable that you mentioned, but I don't know for sure.

Hi guys,

I have successfully repaired the power button with replacing the audio flex cable. BUT the mute switch isn't working anymore!!!... What can I do? De assemble and re assemble? Or could it be a faulty part?

I also succeded in changing the flex cable after experiencing the same problem. However, the power button is still not working, even with the new flex.

It clicks and it feels ok, but it doesn't work. Volume and mute switch work ok (they worked fine before, and they still work with the new flex).

Any ideas about this are appreciated.

Hey Mike,

I have the exact same problem, had a non-functioning power button, got a replacement OEM flex cable, installed it, everything worked fine, but no vibrate. The mute image would appear on screen when flipping the mute switch, but it didn't vibrate.

I also bought another broken iphone with the same power button issue, using one of the same power flex cables I bought with the first one mentioned above, I installed it, power button working fine, volume buttons working fine, but again, no vibrate, and this time, I don't even get the mute image appear on screen when flipping the mute switch. I'm hoping that I just ordered a bad batch of power flex cables. Going to order from another supplier and see if this helps

I'll keep you posted, let me know if anyone finds another solution to the same problem

cheers

Jon
