What is broken in the inverter when the backlight goes off

Hi,

I also have the backlight problem.

What is broken in the inverter when the backlight goes off after few minutes or sometimes hours? Howcome the light can be turned back on, by dimming all the way down and after that un-dimming one stripe only? I don't understand how that is possible.( temperature) I have ordered 2 inverters, from which one already was broken( display black all the time) and the other now is built in my macbook. Still the same problem. It cant be a loose contact, because it happens aswell, if i don't touch the computer at all. Also it doesn't occur if i wiggle around on all cables.

I red about a broken ccfl light bulb, but wouldnt a broken bulb colour the screen red-isch?

I also red about a small 3 pinn and 1mm big condensator or something which would have a "dry joint". Can that really be?( can search for link..)

Or Is the inverter i got send also broken? Meaning i should order a inverter again?

Thanx for your help

Jelmer

Jelmer, what are the last three digits of your serial number? This will help to identify your computer.

Yes, as stated above the inverter sounds bad. Have it replaced.

thanx for your answer. I have replaced the inverter yesterday. the problem is still there. it is not the inverter cable (wickeld it in action), it is not the inverter(i built in the 3rd inverter that came by mail) so i found this entry about

The only new thing about the backlight is that i can keep it on longer if i keep the brightness low. if i turn it up to the maximum the lcd screen turns black. putting the brightness down to zero and up one, will bring it back to live.

Is this a temperature problem?

I can only think of 2 things else to try, but they are a bit more difficult, so I would like some advice first.

1. a dry joint on the logic board

No backlight, tried inverter, what now?

2. or a broken lightbulb behind the LCD screen.

(but how can a broken lightbulb still work sometimes?)

or does anybody now a different option?

thanx for your help and attention!
