How can I upgrade the storage to an SSD Drive

I've seen how you upgrade the hard drive on the iMac. Can it be upgraded to an SSD drive? If I upgrade the memory and change the SATA Drive to an SSD the machine should go super fast, right?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You would need suction cups. You can just follow this guide here!

iMac Intel 20" EMC 2266 Hard Drive Replacement

Keep in mind the SSD is most likely 2.5" and the HDD inside is 3.5" meaning you will need an adapter to make it a 3.5" drive

Not quite super fast but "YES", way faster. Your boot up time will come down to 9 to 13 seconds. And your most of the applications launch will maintain in between 1 to 4 seconds. Similarly, you won't hear humming sound that the hard drive makes any more.

I would also like to suggest not to pulling out hard drive to upgrade to SSD but keep both internally. You can simply buy an Optical Drive caddy for HD for iMac 21.5" Early 2009 model, and pulling out optical drive will widen your iMac's internal storage space. Remember to install HD in the Optical Drive Caddy and SSD in the regular HD place. This will set great.

You can then install OS & Apps on SSD and designate Home Folder or activities to save over HD. Or you can just use your internal HD as Time Machine Backup internally. It gonna be awesome. Time Machine Backup will run way faster internally because it will be processing over SATA speed (3GB/S in your case).
