PowerBook G4 ribbon cable locking clip

History

I disassembled my PowerBook G4 and put it back together. Now it doesn't power on at all. The only thing I can think of is that when I was assembling it, I broke a leg off of the small locking clip that connect the keyboard/power ribbon cable to the board. I'm thinking it's not applying enough pressure to make contact. Where can I find this small piece? The top red arrow in the photo shows the piece I need.

I don't think that's repairable. What you can try is to make a good connection and tape the cable to keep it from working loose. If you are careful you should be able to use some of the yellow tape Apple uses in the computer. Here's a URL to a previous problem solved with tape. Ralph

I used a piece of transparency. I cut it into 3 thin strips, taped them together then slid it under the ribbon cable. It's important to know that the connection is at the top of the cable, rather than under. Once it is connected and working, secure the transparency (or other type of thin plastic) to the ribbon cable...good luck!
