The home button on the iPad four has a long ribbon cable that runs along the bottom of the digitizer to the left side of the iPad; it's several inches long and is a new feature that iFixit seems to have not acknowledged in this teardown.

iFixit totally failed to mention the ribbon for iPad 4 home button that is a new feature.

You should try calibrating it first, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-HauFCb7..., if that doesn't fix it here is a teardown Guide so you can inspect the home button assembly and replace if necessary, good luck, If this answer was helpful please remember to mark it accepted

For iPad 4, all you have to do is to be careful when you are taking the screen off at the bottom and not to cut the ribbon. Everything will stay in place with no problem and you don't need to replace it. I have repaired a lot of iPad 4s so far with no issue.
