Why can't I play any games?

My Xbox seems to not be working. Every time I put a game or disk in,it reads it then,it says "Open Tray". If like nothing was in there. Do you know how to solve my problem?

It looks like your optical drive is damaged.

Try this guide-

OR

It may not be recognizing the optical drive.

Most likely it is a bad laser. This has been the case for 99% of the consoles I have repaired. For a few bucks you can replace the laser. This is the least expensive method to try first.

xbox will not recognize swapped drives. You have to open the drive, extract the original drive's logic board, put it into the new drive. Or do some serious hacking.
