Superdrive acting up

History

My superdrive no longer accepts burned CDs/DVDs or originals. It just doesn't seem to pull them in. Everything seems to indicate the drive is good. It sounds fine and spins up normal on start up.

don't underestimate the power of cleaning.

its a bit complex but http://muzso.hu/2008/08/17/how-to-clean-... has a good walkthrough suplemented by an ifixit guide (ofcourse) on how to clean the lens in the superdrive.

Could be the switch that is triggered when you insert the disk. To confirm you would have to disassemble the computer to take the drive out and check the switch operation with e.g. a multimeter. If faulty, it could just be dirt on the contacts or corrosion.

Will this work even if it won't pul the disk in? I have cleaned it in the past with great success.
