Can I add hard disk drive in Mac mini with fusion drive?

Hi,

I have 2 linked questions.

Is there still the space to add a hard disk drive in Mac mini with fusion drive or is this area filled by fusion drive?

If it's possible did the additional hard disk drive will be considered as part of one disk or will it appear as another hard disk drive with no benefit of fusion drive?

Thanks for your answers :)

Thanks but there is a point I still don't know. Where in physically the SSD drive in mac mini fusion drive? I'm afraid it use the area for second hard disk drive?

You're correct reports are the fusion drive uses one of the drive bays.

A Fusion Drive is two physical drives (1 HD & 1 SSD) which via software made as one contiguous volume. You need to use two SATA Ports and drive storage spaces to create a Fusion Drive.

After digging through the manuals for this machine, it appears that the Fusion drive configuration uses both drive bays. The SSD goes in the lower bay and the standard hard drive goes in the upper bay (these bays appear reversed when you're in the machine).

If you ordered the machine without a fusion drive, you still have an empty bay.
