Why wont my laptop turn on, keeps trying to eject DVD.

I am having trouble rebooting my laptop (1.67Ghz,120HD,2Gb RAM,MacOs 10.4.9 or 10.4.11)

Have taken RAM out, swapped slots, done the PMU(?) reset, holdiing power key for 5-10 sec, ect. All with no luck.

Came back from holidays & it wouldnt get past the DVD check.

There is NO Vid display at all, not even a flicker.

the DVD seems be trying to eject maybe a DVD.

OK there is no display but do you hear the hard drive booting the system ? If so connect an external monitor to the PB and tell us if you have a normal video.

Try starting up holding the option key down to see if there is a system disk in the drive. Try to eject the disk by starting up and holding down the mouse button.

There is no DVD in the laptop. It was taken out during the check on the PRAM batt.

The issue is it's failing the hardware check at boot-up.

You need to take disc out first, then try to boot.

At worst, replace the CD/DVD reader.
