No light on Magsafe but it is chargin the battery

Problem:

Magsafe is not showing any light but is charging my current battery. When I plug the magsafe into another MacBook, the light came on.Plug the magsafe with the same 60W from another MacBook, no light.

My current battery is about 260 cycles thus needed replaced. Bought another from NuPower but now the status is showing 'not Charging'

Info:

MacBook Pro 2.2 A1226

Battery= 60W

Magsafe = 60W

Purchase new battery from NuPower = 62W.

So, using current battery and current magsafe = charging but no light.

Using new battery with current or other MS = no charge and no light.

Please help as I have read many threads all over but no luck. Thank You

Update:

I took it to Apple and they determined it to be left I/O board. Have they do a replacement for $160. Also for A1226 model, must use 85W Magsafe.

well - thats not easy

but first of all - can you check the new battery in another mbp ?

only to see if it's working at all

about the "Light" problem - can you see any problems on your mbp connector ? there are 5 contacts - the middle one is for the light

there can be many problems like fluid damage or some "burned in stain" (sounds better than dirt ;-) )
