Hard drive ribbon - replacing when connector is broken

How is the hard drive ribbon connector attached to the logic board on a 4th gen 20gb ipod?

When releasing the tape over the connector it broke on me.

Would it be possible to use an adhesive on the ribbon cable to secure it to the logic board? Or can I buy a new connector and how would I secure it to the logic board?

Thanks!

David McAllister, I believe you are referring to the Zif connector. If it is the clasp that has broken off, you could try and secure the cable with Kapton tape or similar. Do not use any liquid adhesive. Sometimes the clasp can be replaced from an old board. It is difficult to even get the connector, and if you do get it, it will have to be soldered onto the board. This requires the proper tools and lots of experience. It might be easier and a bit cheaper to just replace the board. Hope this helps, good luck.
