Can I reset SMC manually?

My MacBook keyboard and trackpad started to malfunction. My keyboard only responds to a few keys. I tried doing a SMC reset but it does not work. I tried a PRAM reset, but it does not work. Is there a manually button to reset the SMC? Will an external keyboard work? I've already spent 10 hours on this and have tried all the Apple instructions, so I'm looking for new ideas on what to do.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?
