not turning on after teardown
Hi i fix consoles all the time, recently I tore a playstation slim down to the board in preparation to replace the USB ports because they didn't work. I did nothing else to it until the customer said they wanted to come pick it back up. After i put everything back together, it doesnt turn on at all. no LED lights on power button board. Multimeter shows PSU works, tried a few other PSU and ribbon cables, there is no response.

Are you sure the USB ports aren't shorted after you replaced them? Slims are a huge pain in my side right now. They are just so random on their problems. Fats were so much easier to diagnose.
I haven't replaced them yet. I was unable to desolder the USBs from the donor board. I could not get the board to accept my solder or anything. Is there some trick I'm missing? The only thing I did to the board not powering on now is tear it down and out it back together, which I've done to lots of other machines. I see no damage to the board and quadruple check everything. And I agree with you on the fats!! Lol
